Today is International Men’s Day! Let's get high!

November 19th, 2018 is International Men's Day, offering a celebration of all things male. Here's how to kick things off with some weed.

Most people have heard of International Women’s Day, but International Men’s Day actually also exists and occurs on November 19th, 2018. So how should we celebrate this?

Although some people proclaim that men are innately privileged and have it easy in life, this is a regressive and sweeping generalization. Men are also subject to judgement and their hardships are often minimized because they are expected to keep their heads strong and proceed. International Men's Day aims to sidestep stereotypes and bring awareness to serious issues such as men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, and highlighting positive male role models.

International Men’s Day will most certainly be celebrated in a whole different host of ways. Here at CannaConnection, we love weed-themed celebrations (who would have guessed?), so we put this exciting list of ideas together for those men that see things in the same way. Here are 5 ideas of how to spice up your International Men’s Day with weed.

1. FIRE UP A BOWL WITH YOUR FATHERS AND BROTHERS

Men are often associated with strength and confidence, yet this priority of strength can lead to burying important emotions and putting on a straight face. Sharing our experiences and emotions with our brothers and father can be of massive assistance, but it's sometimes hard to do. Smoking up a bowl together could be a great way to let the guards down and get into some deep, philosophical, and inspiring conversations.

Of course, this smoke session doesn't have to be all about emotions and self-improvement. Quality time also means kicking back, relaxing with a few joints, and experiencing the munchies alongside a good film.

2. GO TO THE GYM STONED

Going to the gym is most definitely part of being a man (and a healthy human being in general). Getting into shape boosts confidence and self-esteem and also raises levels of chemicals in the brain, such as endocannabinoids and endorphins that improve mood, possibly helping to combat anxiety and depression.

Although our brain starts to release our own internal supply of cannabinoids during certain forms of exercise, taking a hit from the vape before going to the gym can help you get deep into the zone. Being high helps you feel every single contraction and can boost the mind/muscle connection. According to many, putting on headphones and going for a run whilst high can be a deep form of meditation and be highly therapeutic.

Do you love both weed and going to the gym?

3. GATHER YOUR FRIENDS AND GET GARDENING

Smoking cannabis is one thing, but smoking bud you have grown yourself is something else entirely. One step up from this is growing a crop with your best friends (we mean those 110% trustworthy!) and all enjoying the harvest together. Growing indoors simply isn’t possible for some people, but here is another method that is arguably a lot more fun.

Guerrilla growing involves planting seeds somewhere outdoors in the middle of nowhere, such as a forest or small wooded area. This enables you to grow weed without it being on your property. Just make sure the location you pick isn’t on somebody else's land and is far away from any hiking trails where it could be discovered by other nature-lovers.

Head out with some of your best male friends this International Men’s Day and plant some seeds together.

Have you thought about growing your own?

4. GET CREATIVE IN THE KITCHEN

Who ever said that men can’t cook? How about proving this wrong by preparing some edibles?

Get your friends together, get into the kitchen, and blast some loud music. Now that a motivating mood has been set and you’ve all hit the bong, it’s time to get creative. There are many different forms of cannabis products you can make, from cakes and brownies to pizza’s, burgers and even ice cream!

Start cooking with cannabis. It's easy!

5. GET STONED AND GO PLAY A MAN’S SPORT

Just like playing video games, sports are an ideal way to bond with your brotherhood, especially when a little buzzed. Sports encourage healthy competition, teamwork, and confidence.

A team sport, such as rugby or football, will really have you all working in sync, and a sativa-heavy strain can boost your focus and creativity during the game. If you really fancy competition, try a Brazilian jiu jitsu class or a nice game of golf.

How does cannabis actually help runners?
