You want to make weed brownies or spacecake? The first thing you need is Cannabis Butter! Learn how to make the best CannaButter!

Cannabis Butter (or CannaButter) is the ultimate icon of the edible world. It is the life-force behind almost all cannabis edibles, incl. weed brownies and spacecake.

The general principle behind this game changing recipe is that butter (a great fat source) absorbs fat soluble cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. This solution can then be used to medicate practically any meal that teases your taste buds that requires, or could use a little, butter.

The total time it takes to forge this beautiful and flexible edible is about 1 hour. 10-15 minutes are dedicated to prepping and the cooking time totals at 45 minutes.

We highly advise that you decarboxylate your weed before commencing cooking.

HARDWARE:

  • Spatula or large soon
  • Saucepan or pot
  • Large bowl
  • Strainer
  • Cheesecloth
  • Air tight container

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 ounce (7 grams) cannabis buds
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter

Preparation:

Begin by grinding your decarboxylated cannabis chunks into a fine powder-like state. This will greatly increase the surface area of the herb and lend to maximum absorption.

Then start melting the butter over a low heat in the saucepan or pot. Start adding handfuls of herb into the pan and stir each time a new handful is introduced. A vegan alternative to butter could be coconut oil due to its high fat content which helps to absorb all of those beneficial and sought after cannabinoids.

Allow this mixture to simmer on a low heat for 45 minutes, stirring it thoroughly and frequently.

After the 45 minutes are up and the simmering is complete, strain the mixture into the large bowl to filter out the large pieces of remnant bud. Apply pressure to the bud in the strainer with the spoon or spatula to really squeeze out and retrieve any potent infused butter left behind.

It is optional to re-strain the mixture through a fine cheesecloth into another bowl to filter out the finer bud dust that may have gotten through. What is left should be green-tinted oil that will eventually set into a beautiful green block of edible goodness. Place your end product into an air tight container and store it in the fridge or freezer for maximum shelf life.

This extraction can then be used to create countless medicated recipes from pasta sauces, porridge oats, cakes, brownies, even beverages and much, much more!
