RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN NORTH DAKOTA

North Dakota is known for having a very strict policy on recreational cannabis. The cultivation, sale, and possession of cannabis for recreational purposes are highly illegal in North Dakota.

North Dakota has no tolerance for possession of recreational cannabis and any amount will certainly get you in trouble.

Getting caught with 1 oz (28 grams) or less is treated as a misdemeanor, but will land you in jail for up to 30 days and get you a fine of up to $1,000.

Possessing more than 1 oz is considered a felony and penalties get more severe from there. 1 oz to 500 grams is good for up to 5 years in jail and a fine of up to $5,000. More than 500 grams is good for 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $20,000.

We are not aware of any possible law changes in the (near) future in North Dakota regarding medical and/or recreational cannabis.
