Find out about the legal status of medical and recreational marijuana in the state of Alabama. Is marijuana illegal? Better safe than sorry!

MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN ALABAMA

The only product that is legal for patients with certain conditions is CBD oil with a THC percentage lower than 3% and the patient can only receive this directly from a licensed physician.

The production, sale and possession of any other form of medicinal marijuana is still strictly illegal in Alabama.

RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN ALABAMA

The cultivation, sale, and possession of cannabis for recreational purposes are highly illegal in Alabama.

Possession of cannabis, even if it's for personal use, is illegal in Alabama and will probably lead to pretty severe punishments, including jail time. Possession is seen as a Class A misdemeanour and can lead to up to a year in jail and a $6,000 fine.

We are not aware of any possible law changes in the (near) future in Alabama regarding medical and/or recreational cannabis.
