Wondering how much it costs to grow cannabis indoors? Click here for a brief guide on the costs of growing your own weed.

You can grow weed indoors for as little as 10 euros. All you need is a seed, a pot with some soil, and a windowsill. But let’s be honest; that’s not going to do much.

If you’re serious about growing cannabis indoors, you’ll want to build a dedicated grow room complete with some high-quality equipment. This will ensure that your plants produce heavy harvests that are actually worth your time and effort. How much equipment you’ll need for a grow room depends on your space and how many plants you plan to grow. However, a basic 1m2 grow room will generally include the following equipment:

  • Seeds: 10 euro
  • Pots: 20 euro
  • Soil: 10 euro
  • Nutrients: 20 euro
  • pH meter: 60 euro
  • Tent: 140 euro
  • Fan: 50 euro
  • Filter: 30 euro
  • Lamp: 25 euro
  • Reflector: 40 euro
  • Electronic ballast: 50 euro
  • Timer: 60 euro
  • Small ventilator: 20 euro
  • Temperature/Hygrometer: 15 euro
  • Electricity: 50 euro/run.
  • Total: 600 euro.

Remember that most of this equipment is reusable, such as the pots, tent, pH meter, fans, etc, and will last you multiple grows. Except the electricity, soil, and nutrients, you’ll only need to buy this equipment once. The light bulb + the filter need to be replaced after a certain amount of runs.

The prices for this equipment will obviously vary greatly depending on where you’re located and where you choose to source your equipment.

Certain growshops, for example, offer great deals on packages that include all the basic material needed to build a simple indoor grow space. Just remember to use high-quality equipment for safety reasons.

HOW MUCH WEED CAN I GROW AT HOME?

Now that you know how much it costs to build an indoor grow room, you’ll also want to know how much bud you’ll be able to produce in a single grow.

Most beginner growers will be able to produce 0.5 grams per 1 watt of light in their grow room. Hence, if you’re working with a 400W lamp, you can expect to produce roughly 200 grams of weed (as long as you don’t make any detrimental mistakes).

Remember that this is a ballpark figure. The amount of weed you’re able to produce is influenced by a whole variety of factors (apart from your skills as a grower), including the genetics of the plants you’re growing and the quality of your equipment.

IS IT WORTH GROWING YOUR OWN WEED?

IS IT WORTH GROWING YOUR OWN WEED?

Economically speaking, growing your weed is almost always cheaper than buying it, especially if you’re a heavy user.

Given our figures above, investing 600 euro in a grow space that leaves you with 200 grams (7.05 ounces) of weed means you essentially paid just over 90 euros per ounce. Best of all, that price goes down drastically as you produce multiple harvests with the same equipment.

Plus, growing your own batch of weed is an incredible experience. Not only do you get to brag about the quality of your final product, but you’ll also learn plenty of exciting things about the cannabis plant along the way and become much more in tune with what you’re consuming.

However, remember that the cultivation of cannabis is still illegal in many parts of the world and is punishable by some hefty fines and lengthy jail terms.

If you plan to grow your own weed, always respect your local laws. No matter how much money you save by growing, it’s hardly going to seem worth it when you get caught by the cops.
