MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN SWEDEN
In 2017 two individual patients have been granted the right to use medical marijuana. This was the first time in history. The permission was granted by the MPA (Medical Products Agency). This opens doors for other patients but each case will have to be granted individual permission.
RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN SWEDEN
The cultivation, sale, and possession of cannabis for recreational purposes are illegal in Sweden.
Sweden has a zero tolerance policy on anything related to drugs and this included cannabis. The cops can stop and search anybody they want and if you do get caught with cannabis, you will be punished. Sweden is known for its harsh penalties for cannabis related crimes so you might want to be extra careful.
As the experiment with granting two patients the right to medical marijuana in 2017 was the first time this ever happened, there is hope that this will lead to further possible changes in the laws on medical marijuana.
